A husband, father of two, and Westminster homeowner, Jamison Power has served the Westminster community for the last 5 years as a member of the Westminster School Board. As a school board member, Jamison helped turn the district's finances around, implemented groundbreaking new programs, raised student test scores, championed energy efficiency (to reduce costs to Westminster taxpayers), and provided the latest technology to Westminster students.
Jamison has a strong record of achievement for Westminster residents. In 2012, he was elected as a Trustee for the Westminster School District. In his first term, Jamison turned a budget deficit of over $1 million dollars into a surplus by renegotiating service contracts and eliminating waste. Jamison also oversaw the installation of energy efficient lighting and solar panels on all school sites, and took advantage of low interest rates to refinance existing debt, saving Westminster taxpayers millions and millions of dollars.
Jamison proposed, and the district implemented, a Vietnamese-English Dual Immersion Program, the first of its kind in California. The program, which is now in its third year, has received multiple awards and is being emulated by neighboring districts. Jamison also implemented a 1:1 device program that ensured Westminster students have access to the latest technology, to help prepare them for the jobs of the future.
Based on his strong record of achievement for Westminster students and taxpayers, Jamison was re-elected to the school board in 2016 by an overwhelming margin.
Jamison received his B.A. from UC Irvine in 2003 and his Juris Doctor from UCLA in 2008. Jamison married his wife, My Lan Dang, in 2011. They have two children, Kieran and Delilah.
